Spirits questions

Do you deliver liquor in Brooklyn?

Yes. Delivery is free in Greenpoint (11222), and checkout shows whether we deliver to your address. You can also pick up at 983 Manhattan Ave, open daily from 12 PM. The person receiving the order must be 21 or older and show a valid ID.

What bottles do I need for a home bar?

Start with a bourbon or rye, a London dry gin, a blanco tequila and a vodka. Add sweet vermouth, an aperitif like Campari and a bottle of bitters, and you can make a Manhattan, Negroni, Margarita, Martini and most classic cocktails. Grow from there with whatever you drink most.

What's the difference between tequila and mezcal?

Tequila is made from blue Weber agave, mostly in Jalisco, and the agave is usually steamed, so it tastes clean and peppery. Mezcal can be made from many agave species, mostly in Oaxaca, and the hearts are roasted in earth pits, which gives most mezcal its smoky flavor.

What's the difference between bourbon and rye?

Both are American whiskeys aged in new charred oak. Bourbon has to be at least 51% corn, which makes it sweeter, with vanilla and caramel. Rye has to be at least 51% rye grain, which gives it more spice and a drier finish. Rye is the classic choice for a Manhattan or Sazerac.

What's a good bottle to give as a gift?

Our spirits under $40 include plenty of good gift bottles. For whiskey drinkers, a single malt or a small-batch bourbon is a safe pick. For cocktail people, a craft gin or an amaro they haven't tried is more interesting. Ask in the shop if you want help choosing.
