Wine accessory questions

What wine accessories are worth having?

A double-hinged waiter's corkscrew, often called a wine key, is the most useful tool and opens almost any bottle. Add a sparkling wine stopper to keep bubbles fresh, a couple of still wine stoppers and a set of all-purpose stemmed glasses. A decanter, foil cutter and wine bag for gifting are nice extras.

Do wine stoppers keep wine fresh?

They help by slowing down oxidation, but they don't stop it. A tight stopper and the fridge give most still wines three to five days and sparkling wine one to three days. Vacuum pumps can add a day or two. For keeping wine longer, pour leftovers into a smaller bottle so there's less air.

What's a good wine gift under $20?

A bottle you love in one of our gift bags is the easiest choice, and we have plenty of good bottles under $20. A wine key, stopper or bottle of bitters paired with a bottle also makes a thoughtful gift. Stop by the shop and tell us who it's for and we'll help you pick.
